🚧 More Improvements Are Happening at Naselle!💙💛
The countdown to the first day of school is on, and we’re still busy making our campus even better for students!
🛝 Fresh playground chips are being installed to create a safer, cleaner, and refreshed play area for our students.
🏀 New shot clocks are going up in the gym, adding another exciting upgrade to our athletic facilities.
These are just a few of the improvements happening around campus as we put the finishing touches on everything before students return.
A huge thank you to everyone working hard behind the scenes to get our school ready!

🎉 2026–27 Kindergarten & First Grade Classroom Update 🎉
We have an exciting update to share with our families!
After continued discussion and thoughtful consideration of staff recommendations, we have decided to begin the 2026–27 school year with one kindergarten classroom and one first-grade classroom.
While this means our first-grade class will be larger than originally planned, we believe keeping kindergarten and first grade in separate classrooms will provide the strongest learning environment for our students.
A big "thank you" to our families and staff for your patience, feedback, and support as we worked through this decision. 💙💛

2026–27 Kindergarten and First-Grade Classroom Update
As mentioned in our June 16 update, based on current enrollment, we are planning to begin the school year with a combined Kindergarten/First-Grade classroom and a separate First-Grade classroom. This will help us create more balanced class sizes.
To be clear, first-grade students in the K/1 classroom will not be repeating kindergarten. They will remain first-grade students and receive instruction based on first-grade standards and curriculum. Kindergarten students will receive kindergarten-level instruction.
Mrs. Bosch will teach the K/1 classroom, and Mrs. Colquhoun will continue as the first-grade teacher.
With school starting next Thursday, we are checking enrollment numbers daily across all grade levels, with particular attention to Kindergarten and First Grade. In a small district, even a few additional students can make a difference in how we organize our classrooms.
If your child has not yet enrolled for the 2026–27 school year, please come into the school office and enroll as soon as possible. This is especially important for families with students entering Kindergarten or First Grade so that we have the most accurate numbers possible as we make final preparations for the start of school.

As we begin a new school year, I am grateful for the continued trust, support, and partnership of the Naselle-Grays River Valley community.
Our work continues to be guided by four priorities:
Relationships • Hope • Growth • Excellence
This year, we are strengthening instruction across the district with a continued focus on student engagement, expanding Career and Technical Education and College in the High School opportunities, welcoming new staff, and continuing to invest in our facilities, safety, communication, and student spaces.
We also remain committed to helping every student leave Naselle with a meaningful pathway for what comes next. That pathway may include a four-year university, community or technical college, an apprenticeship, industry training, military service, or direct entry into the workforce. Our goal is to help every student move forward with confidence, purpose, and hope.
None of this work happens without the dedication of our staff, families, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who supports our students and schools.

We would like to introduce our new Middle School English and Middle/High School Family and Consumer Science teacher, Estella Sheldon. Estella grew up in Ocean Park and graduated from Ilwaco High School in 2020. She attended Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman, where she graduated in 2024 with Bachelors Degrees in English and in Human Development. During her time at WSU, she also began her pursuit of a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching certificate and a Family and Consumer Science (FCS) endorsement. She completed her CTE certificate and her FCS endorsement this year. After graduating from WSU, she earned her Master’s Degree in Secondary English through Western Governors University.
Estella began subbing in the Ocean Beach School District in 2023. She completed her student teaching of secondary English in Naselle and a long-term substitute teaching position in middle school PE in Ilwaco, which gave her some great teaching experience. She has also served as a program mentor at the Dylan Jude Harrell Community Center during four summers, which allowed her to work with a broad range of youth. In addition, she has served as an assistant middle school track coach and an assistant high school girls’ basketball coach.
Estella served as the president and treasurer of the Students of Washington Education Association (SWEA) at WSU. She was also selected as the supervisor of the semester for the WSU intramural sports department. More recently, she was recognized by the Wellspring Network with a Community Builder Award, and was named substitute teacher of the year in the Ocean Beach School District. Estella genuinely cares about each student and strives to not just see them as learners, but as whole people. She believes that this leads to strong relationships and a quality learning environment. She also strives to build a solid learning foundation from the bottom up, which prepares students to tackle increasingly complex concepts and challenges.
Estella enjoys spending time with her pets and her family, playing basketball, riding her bike, and completing sewing projects. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and going to concerts. Estella is excited to begin her teaching career in Naselle and to work with the amazing staff and students in our school district. She grew up in this county and is fully invested in seeing the students in the Naselle-Grays River Valley School District excel in all of their endeavors. We would like to introduce our new K-12 music/band teacher, Darla Mead. Darla reports that she is a “country girl at heart.” She was raised on five acres outside of Eagle Point, Oregon, where summers included moving irrigation lines, tending to the garden, and canning jellies and relishes for the winter. Music has always been a big part of her life, and this passion led her to pursue a degree in Secondary Education from Southern Oregon University with a teaching certificate in K-12 Music. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Integrated Teaching Through the Arts from Lesley University. Darla also possesses teaching endorsements in English-Language Arts, History, and Special Education. She has enjoyed teaching in California, Oregon, and Washington–with each position spanning multiple grade levels and subject areas. For the past 20 years she has served as the K-12 music/band teacher in the Wahkiakum School District where she has directed strong performance and pep bands. Outside of the classroom, Darla loves playing and listening to music, spending time with her family and her dogs, reading a good book, gardening, traveling (cruises are her favorite) and exploring historical places. This summer, she is learning to play the kantele. Darla says that she is thrilled to begin this new chapter of her life in the Naselle-Grays River Valley School District, where she will be teaching K-12 music & band and a 6th grade enrichment class. Darla believes that every student is important, and that music gives students a chance to build confidence, learn perseverance and teamwork, and discover the joy of creating something together. There are no “faces in the crowd” in her classroom, and she can't wait to meet her students, get to know their families, and become part of this wonderful community. Welcome aboard, Darla. We are so thankful that you are joining our team!
We would like to introduce you to our new middle school math and high school Spanish teacher. Victoria (Corona) Konigsberger graduated from Naselle-Grays River Valley High School in 2013 before earning a Bachelor’s Degree at Washington State University in Pullman. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Miss Vicki served as a student interventionist, family resource coordinator, and long term sub in the Naselle-GRV School District. During this time, she also completed a Master’s Degree in Education from Western Governors' University. Last year, she served as the 4th grade teacher at Pacific Ridge Elementary in Seaside. Next year, she will teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math, Spanish I and II, and 6th grade STEM/AVID. Miss Vicki enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, attending concerts and Mariners’ games, and coaching Naselle-GRV cheerleaders. She is passionate about creating an engaging classroom where every student feels safe, supported, and encouraged. She was inspired to become a teacher by some of her former teachers who made learning fun and meaningful for her, and she hopes to create the same positive learning experience for her own students. Miss Vicki makes her home in Naselle with her husband, Matt, and their daughter, Zariah. They are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a baby boy in September. She is excited to be back in Naselle to teach…even more so following her maternity leave. We are very excited to welcome Miss Vicki back to our school!
