
FOURTH QUARTER
April 14th marked the beginning of the fourth quarter. Elementary K-5 and 8th grade report cards were mailed out. Test results were included in the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 8th grade mailing. 7th grade and high school report cards were handed out to students. If you did not receive a copy of your child’s report card, please call the school and we will be happy to send you one.

SCHOOL STAFF
May 2nd-6th is Teacher Appreciation Week. The district will be recognizing both the teaching staff and support staff this week. We have a terrific staff dedicated to providing a quality education for your children. Take a minute to thank a staff member.

INTO THE WOODS
The opening performance of the stage production “Into the Woods” will be this Friday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. Additional performances will take place on May 7th, 13th, and 14th. Ticket prices have been set at $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children/students. They will be sold at the door beginning at 6:15 p.m. each night. Come see this talented group of performers, who have spent the past several months practicing.

KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP
Kindergarten roundup will be held on Tuesday, May 10th from 1:30-2:30. Those students who will be enrolling in kindergarten next fall are invited to come up and meet Barbara. Swanson, Kindergarten teacher and Diane Bennett, Enrichment program paraeducator. The children will also tour the school. If you know a prospective kindergartener, please pass this information on to their parents.

COMMUNITY DRUG COALITION MEETING
There will be a meeting in the high school commons on May 18th at 7:00 p.m. for anyone interested in helping to create a safer community through drug awareness and communication. The meeting will begin with a presentation by the Pacific County Sheriff’s Department on the effects of methamphetamines and other drugs.
We encourage you to join a session which will also include identifying important issues related to drug use, prioritizing the problems associated with the use, and possible solutions. Childcare will be available if needed.

CONCERTS
The spring concerts have been scheduled. The elementary will perform an adaptation of “The Jungle Book” on Tuesday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m in the high school commons. The middle-high school concert will be the following night, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

ROSBURG SCHOOL MEETING
There will be an informational meeting on Thursday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the future use of the Rosburg School. The meeting will be held at the Rosburg School. If you have any questions about the meeting, please call Marilyn Strange at 484-7123.

BOOSTER CLUB CARNIVAL
Mark your calendars for the annual Booster Club Family Carnival. It is set for Thursday, June 2nd. It will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. If you would be interested in helping out, please contact Marilyn Strange at 484-7123.

BOOK FAIR
The Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for May 19th-24th in the library. The theme this year is “Read a Great Tale.’ It features lovable pets to get the students excited about books and reading.
We invite your entire family to participate by visiting the book fair this week. This will also be an opportunity to purchase bestsellers, Newbery and Caldecott Medal-winning books, chapter books, picture books, and hundreds of other items.
The family event will be held Tuesday, May 24th from 5:30-6:45 p.m., preceding the elementary concert. There will be a drawing for free items from the book fair.
